How the coaching cycle works, in four steps
Everything runs in the browser. arteru is an AI-supported development and coaching system for visual artists. It does not objectively rate art. It helps you take the next step in your own work and then checks what actually changed.

Upload an artwork
A photo or scan of your drawing, painting or digital piece. An evenly lit image without strong distortion is enough.

You work on the piece in your own way and at your own pace. The step is a proposal, not an instruction.

Compare Before and After
Upload the updated artwork. arteru compares it with the original and describes what visibly changed. Then the next cycle can begin.
What makes arteru different
A coaching loop, not a general AI chat
The whole product follows one loop: Intention → coaching step → implementation → visible change → next cycle. Every part of arteru exists to keep that loop honest.
A fixed loop, not a prompt
In a general AI chat you manage context, goals and comparisons yourself. In arteru this loop is the product: one step, your update, a check against exactly that step.
Progress needs evidence
A progress statement appears only when there is sufficient visible evidence in the image. Otherwise arteru clearly explains what remains open.
No grades, no rankings
arteru does not objectively rate art and does not score your work. It describes how your image works and leaves the decision about your art to you.
Before and After
How the Before-and-After coaching works
A coaching cycle has two halves. Both belong together, and the second half is what separates coaching from a one-off opinion.
- Before
- A closer analysis of your uploaded artwork plus one prioritized development step. The step comes with a short reasoning and a success criterion, so it is clear what a successful change would look like.
- Implementation
- You implement the step in your own work. How far you take it is up to you. arteru does not repaint or edit your artwork.
- After
- You upload the updated artwork. arteru compares Before and After and checks the change against the step that was set at the start, not against a new opinion.
- Honest result
- Progress is only shown when there is sufficient visible evidence in the image. If the change is not clear enough, arteru says so and explains what remains open, instead of praising by default.
Trust and limitations
Clear edges instead of big promises
Uploading your art is a matter of trust. These rules are strict on purpose, and the limits of the system are stated just as openly as its strengths.

Nothing is published without consent
A Before-and-After cycle may only be shown as an example if you actively allow it: voluntarily, per case and revocable at any time.
AI texts can be wrong
Analysis and coaching texts are generated by AI models. They are a proposal for orientation, not an expert report, and improvement is not guaranteed.
Primarily in German
The current public beta and the app experience are primarily in German. arteru does not replace human art teachers or critique from people who know your work.

Does arteru rate my art?
No. arteru does not rate artistic quality and does not give your work a grade or score. It describes how your image works, proposes one concrete development step and leaves the decision whether that step fits your intention to you.
How does the Before-and-After coaching work?
You upload an artwork and receive one concrete step with a short reasoning and a success criterion. You implement that step in your own work and upload the updated version. arteru compares Before and After and shows progress only when there is sufficient visible evidence. Otherwise it clearly explains what remains open.
Is arteru free?
